When I was first researching kratom, I wanted to find out how people were actually consuming kratom. Were they smoking it, eating it, drinking it? It turns out there are a number of different ways that people consume kratom. I've found that kratom mixed in with a cup of tea works very well for me. I prefer chamomile or peppermint, which help mitigate the bitter taste. I recently discovered that low-sodium tomato juice also works very well with kratom, and almost completely masks the bitterness. On most days, though, I'll drink it with a tea, and I've come to accept the bitter taste to the point where it no longer bothers me. I've also found that kratom mixed with Greek yogurt is a tasty snack.

Kratom is a tree native to southeast Asia. The leaves of the plant have been used for centuries to treat a variety of conditions. The media and law enforcement agencies often portray kratom in a negative light. The aim of this blog is address some of that negative attention, and to provide additional information that readers can use to form an educated opinion.

I hadn't considered prune juice -- thanks for the tip!!
DeleteI make a little "parachute" with some thin toilet paper with the kratom inside, put it on the back of my tongue and swallow it down with a swig of juice or something, never taste it at all. Quick and easy. Can make just one or a few of them depending on the dose. One time I burped shortly after swallowing one and I burped out a little cloud of kratom powder, it was funny (doesn't take much to entertain me!)
DeleteI've heard of that method before, but was always a little weirded out by the idea of swallowing toilet paper. Congratulations on the kratom burp; my kid would have LOVED that! ;-)
DeleteAlso thin paper full of powder exploding in esophagus is no fun
DeleteHow does one go about making a kratom tea? May sound like a silly question, but I've never been a tea drinker.
ReplyDeleteHowdy! Great question. I can't speak for everyone, but the way I make it is very simple. I just add my dose to a cup of green tea or chamomile tea, stir it up and drink. I do end up drinking the kratom powder itself, which gets a little grainy toward the end, as you can imagine. I usually wash what's left down with water. There are more elaborate recipes on YouTube, and other places on the net that might be easier to swallow, so to speak, but this method has worked for me for years. If you want to get rid of the bitter taste, a pinch of stevia works wonders!
DeleteJust tried V8. Kept it down but not as tolerable as sweet juice - usually use an inch of peach juice and drop 5mg in, mix with a frother and chug.
